Breast augmentation is a popular procedure

Breast augmentation is still at the top of the most popular aesthetic medicine procedures. Scalpel also allows for correction of other breast deficiencies. The possibilities are vast, but it is worth remembering that breast surgery is a serious procedure and you should think about it thoroughly. The decision about the surgery cannot be made hastily. The basis for this is a consultation with a doctor, who will answer all your questions. You should carefully present your expectations to the doctor. Sometimes our ideas have little to do with reality, so it is worth checking whether what we expect is possible and good for us. After consultation with a specialist you will definitely make a good decision

How to choose a doctor?

The main thing is the right choice of the doctor who will perform the breast augmentation procedure. It is worth the effort! Make sure that the surgeon you choose has the appropriate certificates and belongs to the Polish Association of Plastic Surgeons. You can also not do without checking the opinions about him – maybe you know someone who performed the procedure with him? Be sure to review online forums and portals with opinions about doctors. Pay attention to the first impression that the doctor will make on you. The doctor should be thorough and answer all your questions in detail. Without concealing the reality, he or she should inform you about possible complications during or after the procedure. Your safety is at stake, so take care of every detail.

How do I prepare for breast augmentation surgery?

Your doctor will have you perform the appropriate tests to prepare you for breast augmentation. These are also needed to qualify for the procedure in the first place. The tests you will need to have done are:

  • blood count,
  • Chest X-ray,
  • blood clotting evaluation,
  • ULTRASOUND,
  • mammogram

A hepatitis B vaccination will also be required

How long does the surgery and recovery take?

Surgery under general anesthesia takes about 1.5 hours and is performed under the supervision of not only the surgeon, but also a team of other specialists. This consists of an anesthesiologist, a nurse, an instrument technician and an assistant. After the surgery, the patient usually stays in the hospital for 2 days. The recovery period takes about 6 weeks. After another two weeks, the stitches are removed, and constant wearing of a bra is recommended. Sports, lifting, heavy exertion – all these things must be strictly avoided during the recovery period. What is important, you can return to work only two weeks after the procedure.

Side effects of breast augmentation

Before making a final decision, you need to familiarize yourself with all the possible side effects of the surgery. There are at least a few of them. There is the risk of losing sensation in the nipple and that the patient will never be able to breastfeed. There are also other complications associated with rheumatoid arthritis or respiratory problems, among others
